Obituary for Kerry M. Hemphill

Reflections of Life and Legend of Kerry M Hemphill Kerry was born September 23rd 1968 to His late mother, Martha Jean Mullins, and to His late father Elvin W. Hemphill. Kerry; with the character of a warrior, he was always standing up for family and friends. Over his life God planted in his heart a desire to love children and to want to see them become their best in life. In Kerry’s youth, he attended Nash elementary grade school in Chicago; he went on to John Marshall High School. While in high school his interest in sports was basketball, baseball and football. Kerry became a legend on the neighborhood courts in basketball; he played in such a way that everyone wanted him on their team. Kerry was 6 feet 3 inches tall, and would love to have had the chance to take on all challengers, even Michael Jordan! He contended with the greatest athletes of his Neighborhood mainly with the streets of Iowa, Rice, and Walton on the west side of Chicago, and many other neighborhoods, many of the players whom could have made it to the NBA. Kerry was well loved by brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and neighbors… Kerry will be missed, but what will last in our hearts about him is his humor, his laughter, his jokes, and his concern on how others were doing. He did his best in entertaining us all with his unique humor, sports abilities, and other entertaining ways
